How to Kick off Your Wedding Planning Without a Hitch

Hello Lovely,

I hear you’re a little stuck on where to get started planning this big day of yours. Believe me, I’ve been there, and I’m not about to let you turn into a Bridezilla.

I’m coming to your rescue in 3, 2, 1.

Planning our wedding was one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve had in my life - That's clearly no lie seeing I’ve launched myself into the world of Wedding Planning! Three years ago I was no expert, but I’ve always been an organised person so this became my opportunity to put my skills to the ultimate test. I thought to share a little of our experience, tips and tricks for keeping our wedding (and event) planning stress to an absolute minimum will hopefully keep you and your gorgeous partner in crime in check.

You need to keep it simple. Don’t look at one more planning book or 24-page checklist if you’re already feeling overwhelmed! Get yourself a ring binder like this one from Kikki K to file your quotes and communications, and invest in a trusty notebook - They truly are all you need! Get the big things out of the way, and you will make a far more enjoyable experience for yourselves.

Planning your big day can turn into a nightmare if you don’t sort the big-ticket items first, especially if you are wanting to wed in peak season when everyone is hustling to book in their dream team! Even planning our wedding about a year out we found we didn’t have time to pencil in bookings; it was a matter of just sending through the deposit and rolling with it - Which in a way was the best thing ever and meant we didn’t have time to toss up the pros, cons and ‘what ifs’ . Our “to book” list consisted of these:

  • Venue (and rainy day plan)

  • Celebrant

  • Band, DJ or Singers

  • Photographer

  • Videographer

  • Guest Transport

  • Accommodation

  • Hair and Makeup Artists

  • Planner and Stylist (if opting for these)

  • Hire Items

  • Florals

  • Cake

  • Caterers and Drink

Ladies take note, next is the most important item of the day - the dress! If it's not taken off the rack, you can be waiting anything from six to eight months to arrive. Do your research and try to get a good feel for the styles that highlight the total babin' goddess you are.

For us, it was important to get our Save the Dates out well ahead of a normal schedule as our big day was conveniently tied in with large events down south, meaning small town accommodation become an issue very quickly. Of course, you don't have to do this, but it's food for thought. If Save the Dates aren’t your thing, I’m a huge advocate for a wedding website like the ones Bliss and Bone offer - Especially if you have guests travelling. It means they can always access the info on their phones and there’s no having to worry about losing bits of paper! Plus, a website is super cost effective and great for mother nature.

Once all this was out of the way, we could breathe again. You won’t all be the same, but this whole process came so easy to me and it’s become my biggest passion to help people like you bring your day together and in the most fun, stress free way possible which is why I share blogs like this beauty. While pinning and saving inpso posts from Instagram are great, always keep in mind that you are pulling together the day of your dreams; The day should be a testament to you, your style and all of the things you love. Those things are what is going to keep your wedding day timeless in your eyes as opposed to opting for what’s on trend or what your friends are doing. HERE is a great blog post to help you discover exactly what you want to get out of your wedding day.

Below are some of my favourite blog sites bursting with inspiration for weddings of all budgets:

Annnnd you made it to the end! A lot to digest, but I hope that you can take something away from this little download. Let me know if you would like to see more on this subject, or have any questions for me.

Congratulations, Enjoy, and Good Luck!

Until next,
